Plants are easily prone towards microbial infections on exposure to microorganisms and pathogens. In order defense, plants produce low molecular weight secondary metabolites which were later known as “Phytoalexins”. These molecules have vast therapeutic potential also. The purpose of this review is explore the phytoalexins their pharmacological effects. data included from articles published PubMed, Web Science, Medline, Scopus, Embase by using relevant keywords including possessing specific biological applications. started with progress in biochemistry bioorganic chemistry, resulting determination structure, activity, well mechanisms synthesis catabolism microorganisms. This has led applications for increasing plant resistance diseases. Phytoalexins exhibit an enormous diversity belonging various chemical families such instance, phenolics, terpenoids, furanoacetylenes, steroid glycoalkaloids, sulfur-containing compounds indoles. used diseases human health. Based review, it can be concluded that tremendous treatment prevention life-threatening diabetes, cancer, brain damage heart attack.
